Job summary

Sense is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Shop Manager for our Margate charity shop to help deliver excellent customer service, support volunteers and raise funds for people with complex disabilities. The role is permanent, part-time (22.5 hours) at £13.00 per hour.

You will work with the Shop Manager to run a welcoming, well-organised shop and help develop retail skills while supporting the local community.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering excellent customer service to shoppers.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Good numeracy and cash handling confidence.
• Interest in fashion/retail and creating attractive displays.
• Willingness to support volunteers and training when required.
• Flexible to work weekends/bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support the Shop Manager with day-to-day running of the shop.
• Deliver excellent customer service and create a welcoming environment.
• Assist in achieving sales targets and maximise income through stock management.
• Sort, price and display donated items to maintain attractive displays.
• Support, motivate and guide volunteers in daily activities.
• Maintain shop cleanliness, presentation and organisation.
• Assist with cash handling, administration and stock control procedures.
• Promote Sense and encourage donations, volunteering and community engagement.
• Follow Sense policies, including health and safety and safeguarding.
• Take responsibility for shop operations in the Shop Manager's absence.
