Job summary

Mencap is seeking an Assistant Shop Manager in Godmanchester to lead a small retail team and drive store profitability. The role requires 37.5 hours per week on a permanent basis, with a 7‑day rota including weekends and bank holidays.

You will promote donations, manage Gift Aid, and ensure excellent store presentation within a charitable setting. The successful candidate will demonstrate prior retail leadership, budget control, and a commitment to Mencap values, with travel to support training

Qualifications

• Experience as an assistant manager or supervisor in retail.
• Ability to manage budgets and payroll details.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Flexible to work 37.5 hours and weekend/bank holidays as required.
• Willingness to travel for team meetings or training.

Responsibilities

• Help develop in-store systems and promote donations and sales to maximise profits.
• Represent Mencap as an efficient and charitable organisation, upholding values.
• Sign up donors to Gift Aid and maximise income through Gift Aid.
• Achieve profit targets by maximizing sales and controlling costs.
• Maintain store presentation to a high standard.
