Job summary

Mencap is hiring an Assistant Shop Manager for our Bury Donation Station on a permanent basis, 37.5 hours per week with a 7-day rota. The role requires leadership of a retail team, budget responsibilities, and a commitment to Mencap values.

Shifts are flexible, with occasional travel to meetings as the store expands. You will help maximise donations and sales, ensure high standards of store presentation, and lead volunteers and paid staff while maintaining cash handling and health and safety

Qualifications

• Experienced assistant manager or supervisor with ability to maintain budgets and complete weekly income and banking sheets, preferably with charity retail experience.
• Flexible to work hours including weekends and Bank Holidays.
• Willing to travel to occasional team meetings and training events.
• Passionate about Mencap values and supportive of our Retail brand.

Responsibilities

• Develop in-store systems and promote donations and sales to maximise profits.
• Represent Mencap as an efficient, charitable organisation upholding its values.
• Generate stock from local donors and promote Gift Aid to maximise income.
• Meet profit targets and manage costs effectively.
• Maintain high presentation standards of the store.
• Build and train a volunteer team and conduct reviews.
• Oversee all cash handling and health and safety.
