The service is highly regarded by partner organisations and received national recognition when recently awarded the Howard League Liaison and Diversion Team of the Year award. Funded by NHS England, we have 3 teams, based at the Wakefield, Leeds and Bradford Police Stations and teams covering Leeds and Bradford Magistrates and Crown Courts. The All Age Liaison and Diversion Teams are multi agency teams working within the criminal justice system with the aim of:
Main duties of the job: The role of Mental Health Practitioner involves identifying vulnerable adults and young people in contact with the criminal justice system, providing assessments, preparing reports for Courts, linking with mental health treatment providers, and supporting individuals to access support and treatment services. You will have the opportunity to develop your clinical practice with people of all ages with various mental health, learning disabilities, substance misuse, and social vulnerabilities. Person specification: Essential qualifications include a relevant professional qualification and registration (e.g., Registered Mental Health Nurse or similar), degree-level education, and completion of Mentorship Course/ENB equivalent. Experience should include engaging with service users and carers, working with difficult-to-engage individuals, and knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act and Safeguarding. The candidate should be adaptable, collaborative, and demonstrate personal development.
