Job description

We're looking for aspiring leaders and clinically credible nurses to join our dedicated team in Suffolk as a Charge Nurse on Abbeygate Ward!

This role offers a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills and advance your nursing career.

Abbeygate Ward is a 17-bed admission ward providing assessment and treatment for individuals with either organic or functional mental health presentations.

We seek a registered nurse with strong clinical expertise in the treatment of older people, whether you're transitioning from staff nurse to charge nurse or already have experience to share in this field.

Experience working with acutely unwell older adults would be ideal, but we welcome applicants from various mental health backgrounds who are motivated, possess good interpersonal skills, personal resilience, and enthusiasm for working with adults and their families during challenging times.

We also offer excellent training opportunities to support your development.

Main duties of the job

We will support you in developing your skills through leadership courses, mentorship, and formal qualifications.

This environment can be challenging, so we need clinicians with a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and a hands-on approach. Reflectiveness on issues of power and difference, effective cross-system working, and a collaborative mindset are essential.

If you are driven to provide excellent care, demonstrate high clinical standards, and are willing to make a difference, we would love to hear from you.

This role requires full PMA fitness (training provided) and the ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends, over a 7-day period.

About us

At NSFT, we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, friendly, and supportive team that values shared learning and development. We are committed to providing an environment where you can thrive.

Why work for us? We face challenges but have ambitious goals, exciting transformation projects, and a dedicated leadership team that cares about you.

Why Norfolk and Suffolk? The area is warm and welcoming, close to beautiful coastlines and parks, with excellent amenities, top schools, and affordable housing. Norwich has an international airport, making travel convenient.

We offer flexible working arrangements aligned with service needs.

  • Comprehensive training programs
  • Career progression opportunities
  • Starting annual leave of 27 days, increasing to 33 days with service, plus bank holidays
  • Staff physiotherapy services
  • NHS discounts and more
Job responsibilities
