An exciting opportunity has arisen for Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse. We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible, and well-motivated registered nurse with a strong commitment to caring for patients on our Grundisburgh Ward in Care of the Elderly.

You will be a key member of the ward nursing team, ensuring high-quality care is delivered as part of a multi-professional team. You will work across the Trust to facilitate patient flow and meet standards set within the National Clinical Guidelines.

You Will Need To Have
  • The ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to make safe and quick clinical judgments in emergencies
  • Desire to develop your clinical skills and knowledge in elderly care, including complex conditions like dementia and Parkinson's disease
  • Experience in teaching, mentoring, and supporting staff
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • A proactive attitude to support the ward sister in maintaining high standards of care

You must be patient-focused, flexible, adaptable, and capable of lateral thinking.

Please note that you are required to work shift patterns, including long days and weekends.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe, effective, and holistic patient care
  • Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in partnership with patients, carers, and consultants
  • Coordinate the ward and facilitate safe discharges
  • Support staffing out-of-hours
  • Assist the ward sister with clinical audits and improvements
  • Monitor patient conditions and initiate appropriate actions
  • Administer medication safely, including IV and cytotoxic drugs, following evidence-based guidelines
  • Undertake evidence-based care for indwelling central venous catheters
  • Maintain accurate patient records and data
  • Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and the multidisciplinary team
  • Participate in patient and carer education, including health promotion related to endocrine conditions
  • Use clinical equipment safely
  • Order investigations and blood tests within scope of practice
  • Undertake clinical skills such as venepuncture and cannulation, and other specialist procedures as required
