Job Overview

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, one of the UK's largest healthcare systems employing around 40,000 staff, provides a wide range of services to a population of over 1.15 million, extending to 2.2 million with regional and national services.

This is a fixed-term, part-time post for 12 months. The shift pattern is Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm (pro-rata), with location negotiable. Salary is also pro-rata.

Role Summary

This position offers an exciting opportunity for an autonomous nurse to lead and deliver a cervical screening service within mental health inpatient services across NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. The role involves strategic and operational leadership of a health inequalities project, establishing and delivering cervical screening for a vulnerable population in mental health inpatient settings.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the development and provision of a new cervical screening service in mental health inpatient services.
  2. Collaborate across healthcare boundaries with staff in Mental Health, Public Health, Primary, and Secondary Care.
  3. Implement and evaluate evidence-based standards, guidelines, and policies.
  4. Provide specialist clinical assessments, advice, and support to patients and clinicians, utilizing high levels of clinical judgment.
  5. Deliver education and training to healthcare professionals on cervical screening.
  6. Conduct audits and research activities to ensure evidence-based practice.
Qualifications and Experience

Post-graduate level education in nursing or equivalent professional qualification, with experience in cervical screening aligned with National Education for Scotland Standards. Evidence of current practice, trauma-informed care, multi-agency partnership working, and skills in quality improvement and change management are essential. Demonstrable leadership, negotiation, and influencing skills are also required.
