Job summary

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a motivated Biomedical Scientist to join the Cellular Pathology Department. You should be able to prioritise tasks, work well in a team and communicate effectively.

The role involves tissue embedding, microtomy, IHC, and other diagnostic procedures, providing high-quality cellular pathology services and contributing to quality standards such as ISO 15189. HCPC registration is required.

Qualifications

• IBMS accredited Biomedical Science degree and HCPC registration are essential.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently and follow SOPs.
• Experience in pathology IT systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality cellular pathology diagnostic service.
• Handle specimen receipt, embedding, microtomy and IHC procedures.
• Supervise team members and provide training on specialist equipment.
• Provide specialist advice to clinicians and maintain QC per department policies.
• Assist in CPD activities and adhere to health and safety policies.
