Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, and commission CCTV systems to industry standards.
• Support deployment of temporary and rapid‑deployment CCTV systems.
• Install and maintain intruder alarms, access control and door entry systems.
• Ensure all work is safe, efficient and of high quality.
• Conduct equipment deliveries and collections as required.
• Complete risk assessments and safe working practices.
• Identify unsafe acts, near misses and report safety observations.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal teams and customers across the business.
• Keep up to date with legislation, standards and new technologies.

About the role

Balfour Beatty Asset & Technology Solutions is looking for a CCTV and Security Systems Engineer - Derby to join our growing CCTV and Security team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to support the installation, maintenance, and deployment of a range of security solutions across Balfour Beatty sites throughout the UK. You will work with temporary, rapid deployment, and fixed security systems, helping to protect people, projects, and assets through innovative technology solutions.

The role is based in Derby, with regular travel required to customer locations across the UK.

What you'll be doing

As a Security Systems Engineer, you will:

• Install, maintain, repair, and commission CCTV systems in line with industry standards and specifications.
• Support the deployment of temporary and rapid-deployment CCTV systems.
• Install and maintain intruder alarms, access control systems, door entry systems, and other security technologies.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
• Conduct equipment deliveries and collections where required.
• Complete risk assessments and method statements and follow safe working practices at all times.
• Identify and report unsafe acts, near misses, and positive safety observations.
• Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and customers across the business.
• Keep up to date with relevant legislation, industry standards, and emerging technologies.

Who we're looking for

• Experience working with IP CCTV systems.
• Technical knowledge of security systems, including:
  • CCTV
  • Intruder alarms
  • Access control
  • Door entry systems
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel and work flexibly to support operational requirements.

Desirable

• Experience working within construction, infrastructure, utilities, or a multi-site environment.
• Knowledge of current security industry regulations and standards.
• Experience producing or working with risk assessments and method statements.
