Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Security Advisor to support the Lower Thames Crossing project. You will oversee security performance, carry out audits and risk assessments, and advise site teams on security measures throughout the construction programme.

The role requires flexibility, willingness to travel for overnight stays, and strong communication, with a focus on preventing incidents and maintaining a robust security culture across sites.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction and/or security industry.
• Experience in contract administration and communicating changes.
• Strong communication skills, written and oral.
• Excellent IT skills and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Ensure security provider contract performance by collecting data to monitor SLA and KPI.
• Maintain security culture and implement practical measures via audits and risk assessments.
• Carry out investigations and document security incidents as designated.
• Provide security advice to sites where required.
• Identify additional security measures in auditing process and inform sublot/project teams.
• Produce Security Management Plans where required.
• Monitor events within areas of responsibility and arrange security measures to reduce risk.
• Support development of policies and procedures for BB Security Dept.
• Develop understanding of sites and construction plans to anticipate security requirements.
• Ensure site setup aligns with the site security management plan and implement preventative measures.

About The Role

Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a Security Advisor to join our £1.2 billion Lower Thames Crossing project. The Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) is one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects. LTC is a new road that will connect Kent and Essex through a tunnel beneath the River Thames and will be the greenest road ever built in the UK – creating six times more green space than a road. The reliable new route will almost double road capacity over the river east of London to reduce congestion and give millions of people more choice on where they live, work and spend their valuable time.

As a Security Advisor, you will support the Design Engineering team in delivering schemes related to our Lower Thames Crossing project.

What you'll be doing

• Ensure security provider contract performance by gathering data to monitor SLA’s and KPI’s.
• Maintain a strong security culture and implement practical security measures within areas of responsibility by carrying out security audits and risk assessments
• Carry out investigations and document security incidents where designated.
• Provide security advice to sites where required.
• Identify and advise the sublot/project team when additional security measures are required in the auditing process.
• Produce Security Management Plans where required.
• Monitor events taking place within their area of responsibility and arrange appropriate security measures to ensure risk reduction.
• Assist with developing policies and procedures to enable BB Security Dept.
• Develop a strong understanding of sites and construction plans to anticipate security requirements for the project.
• Ensuring site set up is in line with the site security management plan and implement preventative measures against accidents, thefts and other risks.

Who we're looking for

• Ability to work pro-actively alone or as part of a team.
• Ability to forge and maintain strong working relationships with all parties at all levels.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including nightshifts, weekends & bank holidays when required and travel with work on overnight stays.
• Experience working within the construction and/or the security industry.
• Experience of contract administration and communicating changes and improvements
• Strong communication skills, written and oral format.
• Excellent IT skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Flexibility to the working environment and changing business priorities.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Private security industry experience or equivalent experience in loss prevention (Authorities, MOD etc)
• Experience in the construction industry desirable
