Job summary

Wilson James is seeking a Relief Security Officer to cover multiple sites around London on a part-time basis. The role runs 1248 hours per year (roughly 24 hours per week) with a pay rate of £14.80 per hour.

You will patrol sites, monitor CCTV, manage access points, respond to incidents and document activities, while supporting a diverse team across client locations. Ideal candidates hold a current DS SIA licence, have security experience, and demonstrate calm, professional conduct in varying

Responsibilities

• Welcome staff and visitors, maintain a safe environment.

• Complete detailed reports on daily activities and concerns.

About the Role:

As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for:

• Welcoming staff and visitors and creating a safe, professional atmosphere


• Conducting regular patrols and monitor premises to prevent unauthorised access, theft, or vandalism.


• Monitoring access points, CCTV, and handling security procedures


• Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, taking appropriate action as needed.


• Complete detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and any security concerns.


• Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations and first aid support if required.


• Adapting to different client sites – no two days are the same


• Responding calmly and confidently to incidents or concerns


• Working as part of a diverse, supportive team

What we are looking for:

• To hold a current DS SIA Licence


• Proven experience in a security role or a similar position.


• Strong observational skills with the ability to identify and respond to security threats.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, visitors, and authorities.


• Ability to remain calm and act decisively in high-pressure situations.


• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
