Job summary

Sodexo is recruiting a Catering Supervisor for HMPPS Newbold Revel Training College, Rugby. The role focuses on leading a catering team, delivering quality food and service, and maintaining high standards across all sites.

You will work 30 hours per week, Monday to Thursday (Friday–weekend off), with DBS/BPSS checks and on-site training provided. Parking and uniform supplied.

Qualifications

• Essential catering and supervisory experience
• Level 3 Food Safety or equivalent qualification
• Practical cooking skills and confidence supporting food preparation and service

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support the catering team, providing clear direction and leading by example.
• Assist with preparing, cooking and serving food, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
• Deliver friendly, efficient customer service and respond promptly to queries.
• Keep kitchens, service points and work areas clean, tidy and organised.
• Maintain food safety, allergen and health and safety standards, completing checks and records.
• Support inductions, refresher training and ongoing development.
• Carry out safety checks and promote safe working practices.
• Step in to support the Catering Manager during absence with effective handovers.

Located near Rugby, Newbold Revel is a training college for HM Prison and Probation Service, supporting the development of prison service colleagues. You’ll help keep learners and staff fuelled throughout their day, making good food and friendly service an enjoyable part of their college experience.

With a four-day working week, this is an opportunity to take on a varied, hands-on role while keeping your Fridays and weekends free.

What you’ll do

Working closely with the Catering Manager and Head Chef, you’ll help ensure the catering operation runs smoothly and the team delivers a service to be proud of.

You’ll:

• Supervise and support the catering team, providing clear direction and leading by example.
• Assist with preparing, cooking and serving food, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
• Deliver friendly, efficient customer service and respond promptly to queries.
• Keep kitchens, service points and work areas clean, tidy and organised, supporting general kitchen duties.
• Maintain food safety, allergen and health and safety standards, completing the necessary checks and records.
• Support team inductions, refresher training and ongoing development.
• Carry out safety checks and promote safe working practices.
• Step in to support the Catering Manager during their absence, keeping colleagues informed through effective handovers.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in great service and enjoys being involved in the day-to-day operation.

You’ll have:

• Essential catering and supervisory experience, with at least three years’ experience in a similar role or environment.
• Level 3 Food Safety or an equivalent qualification.
• Practical cooking skills and confidence supporting food preparation and service.
• Barista skills and a focus on delivering a positive customer experience.
• Strong communication, organisation and team leadership skills.
• Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• The ability to use your initiative and work collaboratively with colleagues.

Experience in contract catering would be advantageous.
