Job description

We are seeking a Catering Services Manager to oversee operations primarily at our Sutton site. The role involves managing staff and HACCP procedures across various catering areas, including ward areas, the restaurant & cafe, and functions, ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout.

Main duties of the job

Deliver the highest quality catering services for patients, visitors, and staff, within financial constraints. Ensure food quality in all service areas and proper management of stock and supplies according to operational procedures. Achieve 'Best Value' in line with Trust and NHS guidelines. Collaborate with the Head Chef/Catering Team to follow stock management procedures and coordinate all catering management aspects as directed by senior management.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• Manage all operational aspects of catering services in ward areas, the children’s unit (Sutton), and private patient areas daily, including food distribution.
• Implement and review management control systems with supervisors to ensure best practices and HACCP compliance.
• Recruit, select, and schedule staff efficiently.
• Ensure cleaning schedules and job sheets are up-to-date and monitored.
• Develop monitoring packages for the service's operations.
• Identify cost improvements, income opportunities, and practice changes. Maintain security in cash handling and stock control.

Skills

• Numerate with understanding of budget and cost control procedures.

Experience

• Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 4).
• Willingness to undergo relevant training.
• Knowledge of catering services and HACCP Level 3 or 4 (training available).
• Experience in catering and supporting senior staff roles.
• Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures.
• Willingness to handle patient/visitor meals and receive training.
• Recognized qualification in Maths & English.
