Job summary

Cambian Lufton College is seeking a Catering Manager to oversee all catering activities within the establishment, ensuring nutritious, attractive meals and managing a team of catering staff. The role includes delivering learning sessions and work experience related to hospitality and catering.

The post involves teaching responsibility and supervising students, with a focus on safety, quality, and budget control in a residential education setting. 40 hours per week, on-site in Yeovil.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in food preparation and cooking or catering and hospitality.
• Current First Aid at Work certificate.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements in a catering environment.
• Experience of menu planning to meet dietary requirements and provide nutritional balance.
• Experience of teaching or supervising students within a kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan menus in advance and meet dietary needs of students while following care, education and clinical team programmes.
• Prepare, cook and present meals to a high nutritional standard for a range of occasions.
• Manage catering staff rotas and timetables and open site kitchens for lunches.
• Ensure compliance with food preparation, cooking and storage regulations.
• Maintain stock levels, place orders with approved suppliers, and monitor catering budgets and invoices.
• Ensure kitchen equipment is safe, maintained and securely stored when not in use.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen environment and monitor safety and waste.
• Supervise students on work experience placements in the college refectory and report on progress.
• Deliver and assess student knowledge and skills for City & Guilds Food Preparation and Cooking Level 1 and related qualifications.
