Job summary

Adecco is seeking a talented Head Cook to lead catering operations in Coventry. The role requires managing menus, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring Health & Safety and allergen controls in a large-scale setting.

Shifts are 4 x 12, 07:00-19:00, with a target of delivering high-quality meals. Salary is £14.87 per hour under a temporary contract, with qualifications in Level 3 Food Safety and Level 2 Allergens in Catering and at least 3 years’ catering experience.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Food Safety qualification.
• Level 2 Allergens in Catering qualification.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a large-scale catering operation, preferably within custodial, immigration, or similar environments.
• Strong supervisory, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
• Experience working in diverse, people-focused settings, with a collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead catering operations and support the Field Operations Manager in delivering high-quality services.
• Ensure Health & Safety, Food Safety, HACCP and company procedures at all times.
• Plan and design menus catering to diverse dietary needs and events.
• Manage food ordering processes and help control catering budgets.
• Organise and supervise the preparation of nutritious meals with high standards of hygiene and storage.
• Complete and maintain all food safety and health compliance records.
• Train, supervise, and mentor kitchen staff and food service workers.
• Conduct quality checks during meal services to ensure excellence and consistency.
• Investigate complaints and drive continuous improvement.
• Assist with kitchen searches and undertake additional duties as required.
• Stay current with industry trends and seasonal menu developments.
