Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a part-time Catering Assistant for Wansbeck General Hospital. The role involves food preparation, service to patients and staff, and maintaining high cleanliness standards within the Catering Department.

Shifts are usually 3 x 7-hour periods between 7am and 7pm, with some weekend and bank holiday work at enhanced rates. DBS checks may be required and paid via salary deduction.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience is desirable.
• Comfortable speaking with customers and handling payments.

• Prepare foodstuffs and serve meals to patients, visitors and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of catering areas and equipment.
• Operate the central dish wash area.
• Take cash and card payments using the EPOS till system.

Job description

We have a part time position available for a Catering Assistant to join our team at Wansbeck General Hospital.

This is a part-time position for 21 hrs per week

Hours of work for this post will be flexible whilst rotas are under review but will usually be worked as 3 x 7hr shifts per week between 7am - 7pm.

Please note the successful applicant will be required to work a share of weekend and bank holiday dates, for which an enhanced rate is payable.

As part of this role, you will be required to maintain the standards of cleanliness as specified throughout the work areas, by means of approved methods.

The role also involves serving in our staff and visitor restaurant and taking cash and card payments using our EPOS till system. It is important that the successful candidate is comfortable and confident to speak and interact with our customers.

Please note that it is a requirement of Northumbria Healthcare Facilities Management that all successful applicants pay for their own DBS certificate, if a DBS check is required for the post. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first monthly pay.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of foodstuffs, general cleaning of equipment and areas within the Catering Department and preparation and service of food to patients on the ward, or to patients, visitors and staff in the dining room. The post holder will be required to operate in thecentral dish wash area.
