Job summary

Newcastle College’s Commercial Services team is seeking a dedicated Catering Assistant to support high-quality food, drink and service across busy outlets. You will prepare, cook, and serve food and beverages while maintaining cleanliness and delivering excellent customer service.

The role requires a minimum Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, Allergen Awareness, catering experience, good numeracy and literacy, and flexibility to work across outlets and service periods.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Good numeracy and literacy skills.
• Flexibility to work across a range of catering outlets and service periods.
• Experience in catering and food preparation is desired.
• Awareness of food safety and health/safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve high-quality food and beverages in line with recipes and service standards.
• Deliver excellent customer service and respond to enquiries and requests.
• Maintain brand standards across catering operations.
• Keep work areas clean, hygienic and well-organised at all times.
• Operate catering equipment safely and effectively.
• Use CPOS tills and cashless payment systems accurately.
• Comply with food safety, health and safety, and hygiene legislation.
• Support colleagues in maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.
