Job summary

BaxterStorey is hiring a Catering Assistant at Curtiss Wright Bournemouth Airport. This is a 5-day week, part-time role (37.5 hours) with a starting hourly salary of £12.80.

You will join a friendly team and provide great service across front- and back-of-house tasks in a busy catering environment. Responsibilities include serving food and drinks, maintaining hygiene, washing up, restocking, and supporting food preparation.

Qualifications

Are you a friendly, reliable team player who enjoys working in a busy catering environment and is happy to get involved in all areas of the operation?

At BaxterStorey, we are looking for a Catering Assistant who takes pride in providing great service and supporting the wider catering team.

This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on day‑to‑day kitchen and catering duties. Your responsibilities will include supporting food preparation and service, washing up, cleaning kitchen and service areas, clearing down, restocking and helping maintain high standards of hygiene throughout the operation.

You will also support front‑of‑house service, including serving customers, preparing hot drinks and coffees, operating the till and keeping customer areas clean and welcoming.

We want to be clear that this role involves regular washing up, cleaning and practical kitchen duties, so you will need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves and supporting wherever needed.

We are looking for someone who is:

• Friendly, professional and reliable

• Comfortable with hands‑on kitchen, cleaning and washing‑up duties

• Happy working as part of a busy team

• Confident providing good customer service

• Flexible and willing to support different areas of the catering operation

Previous catering or hospitality experience would be beneficial, and barista experience would be an advantage, but full training can be provided for the right person.

Job Description

• Service – serve food and beverages to guests in a friendly and professional manner. Ensure that guests’ needs and requests are efficiently and effectively addressed
• Customer Service - provide excellent service by being attentive to guests’ needs at every point on their customer journey. Answering questions and addressing any concerns or issues in a friendly manner
• Teamwork - collaborate with all other staff to ensure the smooth flow of operations and support and contribute to creating an inclusive and safe working environment
• Adherence to Regulations - comply with health and safety regulations, as well as any specific food service or catering guidelines established on location
• Cleanliness - maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and dining areas

Qualifications

• Have a contagiouspassion for food and/or customer service
• You draw satisfaction from working within a collaborative and inclusive team environment
• Ability to adapt to challenges and opportunities with a solution-oriented perspective
• Previous experience in a similar role, especially in the food service industry, is often a plus
• Some knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
