Job summary

Berkeley Scott is seeking experienced Catering Assistants for temporary term-time roles across schools in North Yorkshire, starting in September. Working with Impact Food Group, these positions offer school scheduling hours, weekly pay and flexible shift options for those with childcare needs.

You will support kitchen teams, assist with food preparation and service for children, and help maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Catering Assistant; experience in education is advantageous.
• Food Safety and Food Allergen qualifications, or willingness to complete them.
• Enhanced DBS with child barring, or willingness to obtain one.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work in fast-paced catering environments.
• Positive, reliable and professional approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Passion for delivering excellent service in busy catering operations.

Responsibilities

• Support the Chef/Catering Manager and kitchen teams.
• Assist with the preparation and service of hot and cold food items.
• Help with food service for children, liaising with teachers and care workers.
• Operate tills and handle payments where required.
• Clear down and close units at the end of shifts.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Follow food safety and allergen legislation at all times.
• Keep food service areas clean, organised and well stocked.
• Work closely with all school staff to deliver an efficient service.
