Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is recruiting for two part-time catering roles at Gartnavel General Hospital. You will assist in food preparation, meal delivery, service, wash-up and cleaning, supporting patient, staff and visitor catering across the hospital while following NHS policies.

This posting notes visa eligibility limitations and COS restrictions; the role requires adherence to Food Hygiene, HACCP, and Health & Safety standards with a focus on teamwork and service excellence.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling practices.
  • Understanding of HACCP principles and infection prevention standards.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Knowledge of manual handling procedures.
  • Ability to follow departmental policies, procedures and work instructions.
  • Experience of working in a customer service or catering environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic numeracy skills for cash handling and stock control.
  • Willingness to undertake training relevant to the role, including: Food Hygiene Training, HACCP Training, Health & Safety Training, Manual Handling Training, Fire Safety Training, Induction and mandatory NHS training

Responsibilities

  • Working as part of a catering team, you will support the delivery of patient, staff and visitor catering services throughout the hospital.
  • Duties include assisting with basic food preparation, regenerating and plating patient meals, picking and packing meal components, supporting meal distribution to wards, operating cash registers within retail outlets, maintaining accurate catering records and ensuring stock is stored and rotated correctly.
  • The role also involves cleaning catering equipment, dining areas, vending machines and food service areas, while adhering to Food Hygiene, HACCP, Health and Safety, Manual Handling and Fire Safety requirements.
  • You will be expected to report faulty equipment, maintain high standards of personal hygiene and support the induction of new team members in local work practices.

Job description

The role:

As part of the Catering Team, you will assist in all aspects of food preparation, meal delivery, service provision, wash-up and cleaning duties. The role supports the delivery of high-quality catering services for patients, staff, visitors and hospital functions, ensuring food is prepared, served and distributed safely and efficiently in line with NHS policies and procedures.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

2 x 17.3 Hours Part Time Roles

Gartnavel General Hospital

Monday to Friday (11.30am - 3pm)
