Job summary

Develop and maintain a professional rapport with service users, including nursing/housekeeping staff and dining room customers, by being polite and courteous at all times.

Ability to work primarily alone or as part of a wider team.

Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Attend staff meetings and communication briefs as required.

Main duties of the job

1. Works primarily alone in providing a catering service.
2. Food preparation following all food safety legislation and departmental practices.
3. Complete daily cleaning duties according to schedules, ensuring all COSHH regulations are followed.
4. Regularly check and complete daily audit records (safety, cleaning, food hygiene).
5. Be familiar with the security of the department and its contents, unlocking/locking the department daily.
6. Report equipment defects to ensure remedial action is taken.
7. Respond to requests for out-of-hours food requirements for patients and dining rooms.
8. Place top-up orders for food with the main kitchen using own judgment.
9. Serve food to customers within dining areas.
10. Operate electronic cash registers and handle monies.
