Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a dependable Catering Assistant / Lunchtime Supervisor to join a welcoming school community in Bury on a long-term basis. You will help keep the dining hall and playground safe, clean, and well organised during the middle of the school day.

Ideal candidates have previous experience in a catering/ supervisory role, with basic food hygiene knowledge and the ability to manage groups of pupils calmly and fairly.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Catering Assistant / Lunchtime Supervisor, school cook, kitchen assistant, or midday welfare assistant.
• Basic food hygiene knowledge and an understanding of kitchen health and safety practices in a school setting.
• A friendly, approachable manner with the ability to manage groups of pupils firmly and fairly.
• Reliable availability around the lunchtime period, Monday to Friday, within easy travelling distance of Bury.
• An Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new check.

Responsibilities

• Work as a Catering Assistant / Lunchtime Supervisor serving hot meals, portioning food, and assisting pupils during service in Bury.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, clearing trays, wiping down dining tables, and sanitising kitchen areas.
• Supervise children across the dining hall and playground in Bury, promoting cooperative play and positive lunchtime behaviour.
• Apply calm, sensible behaviour management across the school site in Bury, reporting any pastoral or safeguarding concerns to duty staff.
• Set up dining furniture before service and assist with clean‑down procedures once lunch finishes.
