The Mirfield Free Grammar is seeking a Catering Assistant on a fixed-term basis for 6 months. This part-time role covers 22.5 hours per week during term time, 9:30am to 2:30pm with a 30-minute unpaid break. Start date 2 November 2026.

The successful candidate will assist with food production and service, and will help with cleaning, hygiene and safety across our catering facilities for students and staff.

• Assisting with cleaning and washing-up of equipment, crockery and cutlery.

Grade 3, Scale point 3, £13.28 per hour

This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic Catering Assistant, who is passionate about both great food and great service. Within the Multi-Academy Trust, we strive to be the best we can be in everything we do and that includes our catering facilities. We are incredibly proud of the catering service we offer to our students and staff.

Within the kitchen we employ fully trained Chefs including a Baker. Together the team produces a wide variety of meals, snacks and desserts made from locally sourced food and ingredients which are freshly prepared every day. Within our Academy operations, we have received high praise for our catering facilities and have won awards in recognition of the high standard of healthy food prepared for our students.

We are looking to recruit a Catering Assistant who perform a variety of manual tasks associated with food production and service in the catering department. The postholder will assist with cleaning and washing-up of equipment, crockery, and cutlery in the kitchen, and help to maintain high standards of hygiene and safety.
