About the role

Location: Wellingborough, Eccles, or Watford
Job Summary: Maximise the profitability of specific product categories, enhance customer satisfaction, and improve cash profit.
We are seeking a Category/Buying Manager in the Retail Grocery team, focusing on Crisps, Snacks & Nuts, based in one of our offices in Eccles, Wellingborough, or Watford.
You will be responsible for
- Developing and implementing category plans to meet sales, margin, and profit targets while ensuring product availability.
- Growing the own brand business by sourcing products to increase sales and margins.
- Negotiating annually with suppliers for favorable terms.
- Responding to customer feedback to shape category plans and improve satisfaction.
- Handling customer queries and complaints professionally and promptly.
- Communicating category plans and objectives clearly to ensure understanding and buy-in.
- Ensuring product displays reflect the principles of good, better, and best.
- Collaborating with the team to identify opportunities and improve workflows.
- Adhering to our Business Code of Conduct, acting with integrity, promoting diversity and inclusion.
You will need
Operational skills
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and make commercial decisions.
- Attention to detail, report writing, data interpretation, and record keeping.
- Knowledge of relevant markets and developments.

Experience
- Previous purchasing experience preferred.
- Extensive experience in FMG preferred.
- Proven ability to work autonomously.
- Experience in developing and managing marketing campaigns.
