We are currently seeking a Catastrophe Risk Analyst to join us on a full-time basis at our London office, reporting to the Senior Catastrophe Risk Analyst.

You will provide exposure and catastrophe analytical support to the Exposure Management and Underwriting teams to ensure high-quality catastrophe management information, aiding insurance underwriting decisions. This role involves the input, assessment, and reporting of exposure management data, including regular and ad-hoc response reports to the London Syndicate and our global distribution partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and manipulate large and complex datasets, utilizing accumulation and catastrophe models to understand potential catastrophe and accumulation risks for the Syndicate.
  • Present and explain catastrophe model results to underwriting teams, analyzing year-on-year changes and underlying factors.
  • Operate catastrophe modeling software, including SQL interrogation of exposure and result databases.
  • Contribute to improving exposure management practices, including automating processes where possible.
  • Develop innovative analytical solutions to support underwriting in quantifying catastrophe risk.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of exposures, from data receipt through assessment and reporting.
  • Support post-event analytics and loss estimation for natural and non-natural global events.
  • Assist in validating third-party catastrophe models.
  • Support Senior Catastrophe Risk Analysts, the Catastrophe Risk Manager, and the Head of Exposure Management.
  • Promote good conduct to deliver optimal outcomes for customers and policyholders.
  • Understand escalation procedures and the responsibilities of governance groups such as PCRSG, UCSC, ExCo, and the Board regarding Conduct Risk.

This entry-level role is suited for someone passionate about Geography or related fields.

  • Interest in natural and/or man-made catastrophes.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpreting complex datasets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and creative data interpretation abilities.
  • Degree in a numerate or hazard-related subject (e.g., Maths, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Seismology, Atmospheric Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences) or relevant industry experience.
