The role: CAT Analyst
• The position is for a catastrophe analyst, based in London, to join the Specialty Catastrophe Analytics team with a focus on Marine & Energy, Terrorism, and other Specialty lines.
• The candidate will lead renewal modelling projects on global accounts and engage on developing and deploying service offering to clients.
• The candidate will contribute to the development of new IP and Views of Risk across all classes.
• Grow your career as a Catastrophe Analyst in our London team, where you'll gain deep exposure to Specialty lines, shape innovative risk solutions, and develop expertise at the intersection of modelling, client strategy, and reinsurance.
The responsibilities:
• Quantify the catastrophe risk to Gallagher Re client portfolios using vendor catastrophe models and Gallagher Re models.
• Conduct detailed analysis of client data and portfolio structures to evaluate their suitability for catastrophe modelling and exposure management, identifying gaps and informing tailored risk solutions.
• Contribute to service offering development and distribution through collaboration with internal and external partners.
• Engage with clients, reinsurers, brokers & actuaries on topics including model interpretation, portfolio management and bespoke analytical projects.
• Understand and evaluate the impact of updates and revisions to models and the outputs produced.
• Real-time reporting and analysis of natural disasters and supporting client’s post-event.
The qualifications:
• A degree in numerate or hazard-related subject(s)
• Experience in London/global insurance markets with knowledge about (re)insurance business.
• Strong working knowledge of at least one vendor model (i.e. RMS, AIR).
• Excellent understanding of the underlying perils science and model components.
• Ideally be able to demonstrate innovative applications and solutions for risk assessment.
• Interest in developing bespoke technical solutions.
• Excellent IT skills, ideally with computer programming skills (e.g. SQL, VBA, R).
• Ability to process and understand data quickly and creatively
