AIG’s Catastrophe Research & Validation team in London leads validation and research for global catastrophe risk. You will guide perils and regions, mentor analysts in Bengaluru, and collaborate with Moody’s, Verisk, and KatRisk while shaping the view of risk worldwide.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in catastrophe research or model development.
• PhD or Master’s degree in Climate Science, Natural Hazards, Applied Statistics, or related field.
• Experience at an underwriting company or broker is a bonus.
• Strong understanding of catastrophe modelling and experience presenting to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead Model Validation & Research for specific perils and regions, mentoring a team of analysts.
• Evaluate models with leadership to implement best practices and risk views.
• Oversee end-to-end catastrophe model evaluation and vendor model adjustments.
• Develop relationships with reinsurance brokers and model vendors for benchmarking.
• Contribute to climate-change exams and regulatory engagements (PRA, Lloyd’s, FSA).
• Collaborate with Risk, ERM, Product Office, Actuarial, Underwriting, and Data Office to share insights.
