Job summary

Gallagher Re is seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join the Casualty analytics team in London. The role involves delivering sophisticated data analysis to support reinsurance placements, building Python data pipelines, and delivering dashboards and benchmarks across client portfolios.

You will work with brokers and clients to understand data needs, ensure data quality, and collaborate across teams. Strong Python, SQL, Power BI and GDPR knowledge are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics or similar.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in a data analyst role with data pipelining and analysis in insurance.
• Experience with reinsurance casualty lines is a plus.
• Excellent Python skills with production-quality pandas usage for data cleansing and automation.
• Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Strong SQL and ability to design relational schemas and data stores.
• Proven ability to make large, messy datasets analysis-ready.
• Experience implementing automated data quality checks and controls.
• Advanced Excel and Power Query; Power BI data visualisation.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder presentation skills.
• Knowledge of GDPR and data governance; right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with brokers and clients to understand data requirements and provide insights.
• Utilise advanced data analysis and visualisation to assess market trends and KPI metrics.
• Design, build and optimise Python data pipelines for diverse data sources.
• Develop robust data quality checks to ensure accuracy.
• Lead development of central casualty exposure and claims database design.
• Create analytical tools, dashboards and benchmarks across portfolios and time.
• Keep abreast of data analytics, engineering and AI trends.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual processes.
