Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a Casual Waste Operative in Buxton to support daily site operations. You’ll collect waste streams from various departments, ensure correct segregation to support recycling, and move waste safely around the site.

The role requires a practical, hands-on approach and teamwork in a busy facilities environment. We offer flexible hours per week as required, with free parking and access to Sodexo’s employee benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Collect waste streams from departments and buildings across the site.
• Ensure waste is segregated and supports recycling targets.
• Move waste, materials and equipment safely around the site.
• Operate waste-processing and cleaning equipment safely.
• Check bins and containers are secure before moving them.
• Clean waste bins, containers and handling equipment.
• Maintain yard areas, workshops, and machinery.
• Respond to scheduled tasks and ad-hoc requests.
• Follow Safe Systems of Work, Health & Safety, Fire Safety and COSHH procedures.
• Wear PPE and follow safe working practices.

As a Casual Waste Operative with Sodexo, you'll enhance the services of our vibrant corporate site, offering a helping hand to ensure flawless facilities operations and keep things running smoothly.

What you’ll do:

• Collect different waste streams from departments and buildings across the site.
• Ensure waste is correctly segregated, supporting recycling and environmental targets.

• Operate waste-processing and power-cleaning equipment safely.
• Check waste bins and containers are secure and safe before moving them.
• Clean waste bins, containers and waste-handling equipment.
• Maintain the cleanliness of yard areas, workshops, plant rooms and machinery.
• Respond to scheduled tasks and ad-hoc operational requests.
• Follow all relevant Safe Systems of Work, Health & Safety, Fire Safety and COSHH procedures.
• Wear the appropriate PPE and follow safe working practices at all times.
• Complete relevant training and maintain required standards of compliance.
• Support the wider team with other reasonable operational duties when required.
