Job summary

Maiden Erlegh Trust is seeking a Casual Site Lettings Assistant to support the safe use of school premises during lettings, including evenings, weekends and holidays. You will manage opening/closing, assist lettings users and respond to health and safety matters, acting as key holder and emergency lead where needed.

The role requires reliable, proactive team players with good communication, maintenance awareness and a commitment to safeguarding. Prior experience in a similar setting is desirable.

Qualifications

• Has communication and interpersonal skills suitable for working with lettings users, colleagues, students and carers.
• Has experience in a customer-facing role and demonstrable experience of working in a similar environment.
• Can prioritise tasks, take initiative, work independently and with a team to keep lettings areas safe and ready for use.
• Has a proactive and flexible approach to work, including casual hours during evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Has knowledge of health and safety, knowledge of building maintenance, and practical maintenance skills relevant to lettings customers.
• Can identify and report defects or damage to support safe premises use.
• Is reliable and trustworthy with a sense of responsibility and ownership.
• Can maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Is committed to safeguarding and willing to learn and train as needed.
• Desirable: First Aid qualification.

Responsibilities

• Support the safe use of school premises during lettings by following health and safety policy and procedures, and act as person in charge in emergencies.
• Maintain site security by acting as key holder, opening/closing before/after lettings and keeping classrooms locked when not in use.
• Ensure lettings areas are tidy, safe and ready for normal school use, supporting operations and learning.
• Prepare and restore lettings areas with equipment, tables and chairs, including during exams.
• Monitor area conditions, identifying safety or maintenance concerns and taking appropriate action.
• Report defects and issues to the Site Manager or other manager.
• Undertake practical site tasks including cleaning and basic maintenance.
• Direct visitors to the hire area and be a professional point of contact for users.
• Maintain professional relationships with lettings users and staff across sites.
• Work with the site team and across Maiden Erlegh Trust as required.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle information appropriately.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as required.
