Job summary

COOK in Oxted is hiring for a Casual Retail Team Member. You will host customers in-store, help with menu planning and catering for occasions, and keep the shop clean, stocked, and inviting. You will also operate the till accurately and understand basic shop paperwork and cash handling.

This role focuses on delivering warm, knowledgeable service in a fast-paced retail setting, with benefits including staff discounts and a collaborative team culture.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing role experience preferred but not required.
• Willingness to learn COOK products and catering offerings.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Offer remarkable service; customers are the priority.
• Assist customers with menu planning and event catering advice.
• Keep the shop immaculate, stocked, and compliant with procedures.
• Operate the till accurately and efficiently.
• Understand shop paperwork and necessary checks.
• Open/close the shop and handle cash procedures.
• Check in deliveries, place orders, and assist stock takes.
• Dress code: apron and name badge at all times.

Casual Retail Team Member - Oxted

Location: Oxted

Hours: Casual

Pay rate: £13.45 per hour

Join Our Retail Team! There’s more to COOK than food: our shops play active roles in the communities they serve and that is thanks to the warmth, knowledge and care of our Retail Team. We are looking for remarkable people to join us who can host customers in the shop just like they would at home.

The Role

• Offer remarkable service, the customer is always more important than anything else you are doing.
• Use your knowledge to help customers plan menus or advise on catering for occasions. Talk to customers about upcoming offers, products and promotions.
• We are a food business – make sure the shop always looks immaculate, clean and spotless, stock is replenished and rotated, and the freezers are full.
• Be a whizz on the till. Operate it efficiently and accurately.
• Understand the shop paperwork, necessary legal checks and their purpose.
• Open up the shop. Close the shop and cash up.
• Check in deliveries and placing orders, assist with stock taking as required.
• Look smart with apron, and name badge on at all times.

Good to Have

If you are a foodie then great, but we will train you to know our products, including how and where they are made, and to understand what dishes suit which occasions.

Experience not necessary but previous experience of working in Retail or in a customer facing role would be the icing on the cake.
