Job summary

COOK in Locks Heath is seeking friendly retail team members to join our shop. You will host customers, share product knowledge, and help plan menus for occasions. No prior experience required; training provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer-facing roles is not required as training will be provided.
• Ability to chat with customers and explain offers and products clearly.
• Willingness to handle till procedures and basic shop paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Offer remarkable service – put the customer first in every task.
• Help customers plan menus or advise on catering for occasions.
• Keep the shop neat, stocked, and rotated; ensure freezers are full.
• Operate the till accurately and efficiently.
• Understand shop paperwork and perform end-of-day reconciliation.
• Check in deliveries, place orders, and assist with stock takes.
• Present a smart appearance with apron and name badge at all times.

Location: Locks Heath
Pay rate: £13.45 per hour
Hours: Casual

Join our Retail Team! There is more to COOK than food: our shops play active roles in the communities they serve and that is thanks to the warmth, knowledge and care of our Retail Team. We are looking for remarkable people to join us who can host customers in the shop just like they would at home.

The Role

• Offer remarkable service – the customer is always more important than anything else you are doing.
• Use your knowledge to help customers plan menus or advise on catering for occasions. Talk to customers about upcoming offers, products and promotions.
• We are a food business – make sure the shop always looks immaculate, clean and spotless, stock is replenished and rotated, and the freezers are full.
• Be a whizz on the till. Operate it efficiently and accurately.
• Understand the shop paperwork, necessary legal checks and their purpose.
• Open up the shop, close the shop and carry out end-of-day reconciliation.
• Check in deliveries and place orders, and assist with stock taking as required.
• Look smart, with apron and name badge on at all times.

Good to Have

If you are a foodie then great, but we will train you to know our products, including how and where they are made, and to understand what dishes suit which occasions.

Experience not necessary, but previous experience of working in retail or in a customer-facing role would be the icing on the cake.
