Job summary

Rochdale Borough Council's Strategic Housing Service is hiring Casual Accommodation Night Workers to support homeless individuals into safe accommodation and appropriate services. The role focuses on maintaining a safe environment, guiding residents, and recording information accurately while safeguarding the wider team.

You will work night shifts (10pm–8:30am) as part of a 24/7 service, requiring strong communication, independence, and the ability to respond calmly in emergencies.

Qualifications

• Be approachable and have strong communication skills.
• Awareness of the barriers faced by homeless people.
• Carry out health & safety checks and report repairs.
• Check IT systems for information and follow guidance/procedures.
• Maintain accurate written records and liaise with partner agencies.
• Promote safeguarding and challenge inappropriate behaviour.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to equality and diversity.
• Be able to react to emergency situations in the building and remain calm.

• Ensure the environment is safe and welcoming for residents and colleagues.
