Job summary

Brentwood Borough Council invites applications for a Casual Gallery Assistant at Platform Gallery, Clitheroe. Role focuses on customer service, greeting visitors and supporting artists in a busy contemporary craft setting.

You will assist with sales, displays, stock handling, and light maintenance during exhibitions. Prior hospitality or retail experience is advantageous; IT skills required. Flexible hours, no guaranteed hours.

Qualifications

• Friendly and welcoming manner with excellent customer service.
• Confident when dealing with the public and able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
• Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Meet and greet customers and artists in person and over the telephone.
• Operate the gallery shop till and handle sales.
• Display and handle artwork and assist with lifting and deliveries.
• Carry out administrative tasks and assist with painting, maintenance, and DIY during exhibitions.
