Job summary

Ribble Valley Borough Council is seeking a Casual Gallery and Visitor Information Centre Assistant at Platform Gallery in Clitheroe. This casual post has no guaranteed hours and supports visitors, artists and retail operations during opening times.

Applicants should have hospitality, retail or customer-facing experience; IT skills in Outlook, Excel and Word are essential. The council offers a Real Living Wage and a 12.07% holiday allowance in lieu of entitlement.

Qualifications

• Meet and greet customers and artists in person and by phone.
• Operate the gallery till and handle sales.
• Display and handle artwork; lift stock and deliveries.
• Assist with administrative tasks and during exhibition installation periods.
• Friendly, welcoming manner with strong customer service.
• Good IT skills, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Meet and greet customers and artists both in person and over the telephone.
• Operating the gallery shop till and handling sales transactions.
• Displaying and handling artwork; lifting and carrying stock and deliveries.
• Undertaking administrative tasks and assisting with painting, maintenance during exhibitions.
