Job summary

Randstad Education in Castle Cary is seeking a Secondary Teaching Assistant for day-to-day supply in a supportive local school. You will assist students across Key Stage 3 and 4, help teachers with classroom tasks, and support learners with SEN where needed.

This role suits graduates or experienced TAs seeking local flexibility, with a term-time schedule from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM and a pay range of £92.56–£95.00 per day, paid weekly via agency/PAYE.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with young people in school, youth group, tutoring, or care settings preferred.
• Strong communication skills with an approachable, confident manner.
• A proactive attitude and ability to hit the ground running in different classroom settings daily.
• Based in or able to commute to Castle Cary.
• GCSE English and Maths C/4 (or equivalent). A degree or TA qualification is an advantage but not essential.
• Must hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service.

Responsibilities

• Support individual students or small groups across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 during lessons.
• Assist class teachers with general classroom support, keeping students focused and engaged.
• Help implement tailored support for students with SEN or additional learning requirements.
• Promote positive behaviour and foster a welcoming, safe learning space.
• Adapt quickly to different subjects, age groups and classroom environments.
