Middlesbrough Borough Council – Substance Use Service is seeking a Caseworker to support clients from entry through treatment and recovery. Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a Caseworker to join Middlesbrough Borough Council’s substance use service, supporting clients from initial entry through treatment and recovery. This unqualified social care role involves conducting screenings and assessments, developing and implementing recovery plans, facilitating onward referrals, and conducting care reviews to help clients achieve their goals. You will work with vulnerable clients who may have complex needs relating to domestic abuse, homelessness, re-offending behaviour and poor physical or mental health, using a trauma-informed, strength-based approach to minimise harm and promote recovery, resilience and social reintegration. You will work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside other services to ensure clients can access support easily and seamlessly.

An Enhanced DBS check against both adults and children is essential for this role. This is a temporary post based in Middlesbrough running from September 2026 to March 2027.
