Job summary

Derby City Council is seeking an organised administrator to provide high-quality support to Social Care and Early Help workers and managers. You will handle enquiries, prepare documents and maintain accurate records, using Liquidlogic and Microsoft Office to keep case information up to date.

Qualifications

  • Recent administrative experience in a busy office.
  • Experience in an administrative or customer support role, particularly within a local authority or public sector environment, is desirable but not essential
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to respond politely and patiently to service users
  • Experience of working with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, to produce, update and maintain a range of documents and spreadsheets
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and maintain attention to detail.
  • An understanding of the need for confidentiality when dealing with service user information.
  • Experience of using Liquidlogic, or the ability to learn new IT systems quickly.

Job description

We are looking for an organised and motivated administrator to provide high-quality support to Social Care/ Early Help workers and managers within our service. What you'll be doing You will:

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the team, including handling enquiries by phone and email, preparing documents and maintaining accurate records.
  • Use Liquidlogic to input, update and retrieve case information, ensuring data is accurate, timely and handled confidentially.
  • Use Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel, to produce letters, reports, spreadsheets and maintain tracking systems.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information in line with Council policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, partners and members of the public, responding politely and professionally to enquiries.
  • Be required to provide reception cover to support a busy contact centre.

All employees will normally be appointed to the minimum of the grade for the role. Where a DBS requirement is indicated at the top of this advert, the successful candidate will be subject to the appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of our safer recruitment process. Where a Market Rate Supplement is indicated at the top of this advert, it is paid in addition to the basic salary and is subject to regular review. The supplement may be reduced or withdrawn and will reduce in line with incremental progression and pay awards. The Council has a legal obligation to consider suitable redeployment opportunities for employees at risk of redundancy. Consequently, this vacancy may be withdrawn before the advertised closing date if it is filled through the Council's redeployment process.
