Job summary

Novus Gower is seeking a Carpentry Instructor for HMP Parc at Bridgend. This permanent, full-time role (40 hours per week) involves delivering hands-on carpentry sessions to help learners build confidence and useful employability skills.

You will support learners to achieve vocational outcomes, maintain a safe workshop, and work with education and prison teams. Essential qualifications include Level 1 Literacy/Numeracy and commitment to further teaching qualifications.

Qualifications

• Experience in the relevant vocational area.
• Willingness to gain PTLLS within 6 months.
• Commitment to gain a Level 3 qualification within 2 years.
• Commitment to gain an assessor award within 1 year (if applicable).
• Hold at least a Level 1 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy or be willing to gain it within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, practical carpentry sessions to develop safe working practices and core joinery skills.
• Support learners to work towards recognised vocational outcomes and progression on release.
• Maintain a safe, secure workshop environment and collaborate with education and prison colleagues.
