Are you an experienced carpentry and joinery professional looking to pass on your trade skills to the next generation of tradespeople?
You'll deliver carpentry and joinery qualifications to students at a range of levels, combining practical workshop instruction with classroom-based theory teaching. Working within a well-equipped training environment, you'll help learners develop the technical skills, industry knowledge and professional standards they need to succeed in the construction sector.
This role would suit someone with a strong vocational background in carpentry who is ready to move into teaching, as well as those with existing lecturing experience. If you haven't taught before, you'll be supported with fully funded teacher training, mentoring and ongoing professional development as you build your skills in the classroom.
Your responsibilities will include:
Planning and delivering engaging practical and theory sessions in carpentry and joinery.
Assessing student work and providing constructive feedback to support progress.
Preparing students for industry-recognised qualifications and assessments.
Maintaining a safe, well-organised workshop environment in line with health and safety requirements.
Keeping up to date with current carpentry and joinery industry practice and standards.
Monitoring and recording student attendance, progress and achievement.
A recognised trade background in carpentry and joinery
A relevant Level 3 qualification in carpentry and joinery, or equivalent industry experience
Strong communication and organisational skills
A commitment to safe working practices and high professional standards
A teaching qualification such as a PGCE, DET or Cert Ed
An assessor or verifier award
Previous experience teaching or mentoring in a further education setting
