Job summary

Rise Technical Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Carpenter or Joiner to move into a training role in Wigan. The position offers teacher training and a chance to develop the next generation of tradespeople while staying connected to practical carpentry work.

You will deliver Level 2 and Level 3 Carpentry & Joinery training, balancing hands-on workshops with theory, while progressing toward a recognised teaching qualification. Salary is 31,000 – 42,000 with strong benefits and pension.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Carpentry & Joinery training across Level 2 and Level 3 programmes.
• Combine practical workshop sessions with classroom theory.
• Assess learner work and progress per awarding body requirements.
• Provide feedback to help learners improve and plan their development.
• Maintain records of learner progress and attendance.
• Support learner induction, engagement and progression planning.
• Act as a Personal Tutor when required.

Are you an experienced Carpenter or Joiner looking to step away from full-time site work and move into training? Do you want to use your practical experience to develop the next generation of tradespeople while gaining recognised teaching qualifications and enjoying excellent benefits? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established Further Education provider within its Construction department. You'll work with learners developing their Carpentry & Joinery skills from the ground up, helping them build the practical ability, technical knowledge and professional standards required to succeed within the industry.

The role:

• Deliver Carpentry & Joinery training across Level 2 and Level 3 programmes.
• Deliver a mixture of practical workshop sessions and classroom-based theory.
• Teach learners about materials, tools, techniques and industry working practices.
• Plan engaging lessons that develop practical, technical and employability skills.
• Assess learner work and progress in line with awarding body requirements.
• Provide clear, constructive feedback and help learners improve.
• Use assessment outcomes to adapt training and support individual learner development.
• Monitor attendance, engagement and positive behaviour.
• Maintain accurate records of learner progress and assessment.
• Act as a Personal Tutor when required, providing pastoral support and guidance.
• Support learner induction, achievement and progression planning.
• Contribute to Open Evenings, school liaison and recruitment activities.
• Support course coordination and wider departmental initiatives.
• Keep technical knowledge and industry practice up to date.
• Full support provided to gain a recognised teaching qualification.

The person:

• Experienced Carpenter, Joiner or Carpentry & Joinery professional.
• Degree or vocational qualification in Carpentry, Joinery or a related discipline.
• Strong practical trade knowledge and current industry understanding.
• Teaching qualification desirable but not essential.
• Willingness to work towards a recognised teaching qualification.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C / 4 or equivalent, or willing to achieve these during probation.
• Confident explaining practical and technical information to learners.
• Patient, organised and learner-focused.
• Able to adapt your approach to different learners and learning styles.
• Comfortable using IT, e-learning and digital learning technologies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Committed to safeguarding, inclusion and learner success.
• Able to travel between sites when required.
• Passionate about passing on industry knowledge and developing the next generation of Carpenters and Joiners.

The salary advertised is the bracket available for this position. The actual salary paid will be dependent on your level of experience, qualifications and skill set and will be decided by our client, the employer.
