Job summary

The Supply Register (on behalf of EPNE) is recruiting a Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer for Sunderland on a temporary basis. You will deliver Carpentry & Joinery programs at Level 1 and Level 2, preparing and assessing learners across practical and theory sessions in a FE setting.

The role supports learners toward successful qualifications, with emphasis on safety, industry standards, and employability skills in a busy workshop environment.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 qualification in Carpentry & Joinery.
• Level 2 Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential).
• Previous FE teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Level 1 and Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery qualifications.
• Plan, prepare, and assess learning in line with curriculum requirements.
• Teach practical workshop sessions and classroom-based theory lessons.
• Support learners with target setting, progress reviews and qualification attainment.
• Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate student records.
• Promote safe working practices and industry standards in workshops.
• Support learners to develop employability and trade-specific skills.
• Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and professional standards.

Location: Hay Street & Wilson Street North, Sunderland, SR5 1BB

Contract: Temporary

Duration: ASAP – 18th December 2026, could be extended

Hours: 37 hours per week

Pay: £24.43 - £42.03 per hour including holiday pay

We are currently recruiting a Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer to support EPNE on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer to join a successful construction department and support learners studying vocational trade qualifications within a Further Education environment.

The Role

As a Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer, you will deliver engaging and inspiring lessons across Carpentry & Joinery programmes, helping learners develop the practical skills, knowledge, and behaviours required for a successful career within the construction industry.

• Delivering Level 1 and Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery qualifications
• Planning, preparing, and assessing learning in line with curriculum requirements
• Teaching both practical workshop sessions and classroom-based theory lessons
• Supporting learners with target setting, progress reviews, and achievement of qualifications
• Monitoring learner progress and maintaining accurate student records
• Promoting safe working practices and industry standards within workshop environments

What We're Looking For

• A Level 3 qualification in Carpentry & Joinery
• Previous experience teaching Carpentry & Joinery within a Further Education setting
• Level 2 Maths and English (or equivalent)
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Ability to motivate and support learners to achieve their goalsExperience delivering practical workshop-based training
• Knowledge of current industry standards and working practices
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
