Job summary

Education Partnership North East, delivering Sunderland College’s carpentry and joinery teaching, seeks an enthusiastic educator with industry experience to plan, deliver and monitor high-quality courses for Level 1–3, including apprenticeships.

You will build strong links with parents, employers and the wider construction sector to ensure excellent learner outcomes, progression and safety in the workshop.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 qualification in Carpentry and Joinery.
• Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English, or recognised equivalents.
• Minimum of two years’ relevant industry experience in Carpentry and Joinery.
• Experience of delivering teaching, learning and assessment within an FE or apprenticeship setting.
• Experience of planning and leading Carpentry and Joinery programmes.
• Experience of supporting students’ achievement, progress and personal development.
• Competence in using digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
• Experience of assessment and feedback in line with awarding body requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, monitor and evaluate teaching across Carpentry and Joinery from Level 1 to Level 3, including apprenticeships.
• Recruit, retain, progress and achieve students on your programmes.
• Lead curriculum planning, internal and external quality assurance and programme reviews.
• Provide academic and pastoral support with tracking, monitoring and timely intervention.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and professional practice in the workshop.
• Develop links with employers and the construction industry to support work experience and apprenticeships.
• Support marketing and recruitment activities and open events.

About the Role

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational individual to join our growing Construction Team at Sunderland College. We are seeking a candidate who can demonstrate outstanding teaching, learning and assessment practices across Carpentry and Joinery qualifications, ensuring positive outcomes for all students.

There is significant potential to further develop and promote provision within this curriculum area, and you will play an important role in driving this forward. You will plan, promote, deliver, monitor and evaluate teaching, learning and learner progress. You will also build strong relationships with parents, employers and the wider construction industry to ensure that every student receives an outstanding learning experience.

Role Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, monitor and evaluate high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Carpentry and Joinery programmes from Level 1 to Level 3, including apprenticeships.
• Take responsibility for the recruitment, retention, progress and achievement of students on your programme(s).
• Lead curriculum planning, internal and external quality assurance and programme performance reviews.
• Provide high-quality academic and pastoral support, including effective tracking, monitoring and timely intervention.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and professional practice within the workshop.
• Develop strong links with employers and the wider construction industry to support work experience, apprenticeships and positive learner destinations.
• Support marketing and recruitment activities, including open events, school engagement and applicant interviews.
