Job summary

Avery Healthcare Group is seeking a Sous Chef for Loxley Park Care Home in Sheffield. You will support the Head Chef, lead a culinary team, and contribute to nutritionally balanced meals for residents within budget and guidelines.

Essentials include City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ (or equivalent) with at least 1 year of catering experience, compassion for residents, and the ability to adapt to a range of tasks on short notice. DBS disclosure will be arranged by Avery.

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant catering qualification (City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent).
• Have a minimum of 1 year of catering experience.
• Demonstrate compassion and commitment to high-quality culinary services for residents.
• Be adaptable and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Preparing modified diets that look appealing and well-balanced in accordance with IDDSI guidance.
• Supervising and directing the work of culinary staff, and training unqualified staff on basic food preparation.
• Understanding safe food handling to meet high hygiene standards.
• Supporting the culinary team in following Avery Food safety management system.
