Job summary

Homes for Students is recruiting a part-time Caretaker for Holli Wharf in Bath, 20 hours per week (Mon-Fri). You will perform maintenance tasks across multiple trades and support a high-quality customer experience for residents and property users.

Role requires hands-on maintenance skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work independently as part of a small team. Benefits include holiday entitlement and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• Experience in property maintenance within a similar environment or skilled across multiple trades.
• Awareness of health and safety issues and legal requirements.
• Excellent customer care skills with clear progress updates.
• Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines without close supervision.
• Proactive, able to use initiative to resolve issues quickly and effectively.

Homes for Students is one of the UK’s leading providers of student accommodation. We currently have a vacancy for a Caretaker at our Holli Wharf property in Bath working 20hours per week, Monday to Friday.

General duties will include but not be limited to:

• Painting
• Unblocking drains
• Fixing taps
• Changing lightbulbs
• Litter picking the perimeter

The postholder will be responsible for driving a high-quality customer experience in relation to the speed and quality of the service provided to reported faults and the general condition, state and repair of the property.

Person Specification:

• Previous experience of Property maintenance within a similar environment, or experienced and qualified in a trade with the ability to work across a number of trade disciplines to a reasonable standard.
• Awareness of Health and Safety issues and legal requirements.
• Excellent customer care skills with the ability to report outstanding actions and to keep individuals informed of progress.
• Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience of prioritising workload to meet competing deadlines without close supervision.
• To be proactive in approach, with the ability to use initiative and resolve issues or problems quickly and effectively.
• Ability to work in a team and have a flexible approach to work.
