Job summary

Churchwood Primary School, part of The Pioneer Academy, is seeking a committed caretaker to join the site team. The role is 25 hours per week, 42 weeks per year, with flexible hours including early opening from 7:30am to support safeguarding and site management.

The successful candidate will help keep premises safe, warm, clean and well-maintained, move goods and furniture, and support safeguarding for pupils, staff and visitors. DBS checks and safeguarding training are required.

  • Movement of heavy goods, duties including heavy items, taking delivery and distributing supplies, moving furniture and equipment.
  • Promote and protect safeguarding of all pupils, staff and visitors to site and premises.

The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2018 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision. Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self‑declaration form as part of the pre‑employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2018 Regulations.

If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2018 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.

We are looking to recruit a committed caretaker to join our school site team, working 25 hours a week, this role is 42 weeks per year, hours can be flexible for the right candidate but would include the need to opening up the school from 7.30am.

Key responsibilities
  • Ensure the premises and grounds are safe, warm, clean and properly maintained.
  • Movement of heavy goods, duties including heavy items, taking delivery and distributing supplies, moving furniture and equipment.
  • Promote and protect safeguarding of all pupils, staff and visitors to site and premises.

Churchwood Primary School is a 1 form entry school which joined The Pioneer Academy in June 2026.We have a substantial school site and extensive facilities, complete with a school nursery.We have a large staff team, and, more importantly, wonderful pupils.
