MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To work under the leadership of the Headteacher and the supervision of the Premises Manager to ensure that the school premises and grounds at both sites are maintained to a high standard by undertaking reasonable duties.
MAIN DUTIES
- Deal with health and safety/maintenance issues under the direction of the Premises Manager.
- Open and lock up as required.
- Carry out minor repairs and report defects to the Premises Manager.
- Engage in preventative maintenance to eliminate potential hazards.
- Assist in completing statutory testing requirements, including the school pool, and report to the Premises Manager.
- Maintain knowledge of fire precautions and equipment.
- Assist with distribution of equipment and stock deliveries.
- Move furniture and equipment under the direction of the Premises Manager.
- Assist school staff with displays, repairs, and productions.
- Monitor cleaning and re-stock supplies when necessary.
- Set up for meetings.
- Run errands such as locksmith services, banking, and post office visits.
- Contact engineers to report faults.
- Ensure school buildings and playgrounds are free of litter and bins are emptied regularly.
- Assist the Premises Manager with tasks outlined in the Rolling Programme of Works.
- Support all school functions.
- Cover routine Premises Officer duties during absences.
- Check and clean up bodily fluids and maintain hygiene of toilet areas according to health and safety guidelines.
- Handle chemicals safely in line with the school's health and safety policy and COSHH assessments.
- SECURITY
- Ensure the security of the site and its contents, providing access and exit for authorized persons. As a trusted main key holder, be responsible for premises security during the day and for locking and alarming at the end of the day.
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Undertake relevant training as appropriate.
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the council's Equal Opportunities policy.
- Perform any other duties compatible with the grade and nature of the role.
