Job summary

Capita is seeking an experienced Caretaker to join our team at the Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre. You may be required to travel to alternate sites, so a driving licence and vehicle access are preferred.

Police vetting is required, with residence in the UK for at least 3 years. The role includes cleaning, maintenance, grounds work, waste management, and training colleagues in core duties, with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a maintenance/cleaning role.
  • Experience working within a secure facility preferred.
  • Basic ICT, electrical and mechanical skills.
  • Hold a current clean driving licence.
  • Flexible regarding working hours.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a full cleaning service within the secure facility and assist with holiday and sickness cover at other sites.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of equipment across the site, including minor repairs.
  • Undertake reactive and preventative day-to-day maintenance tasks.
  • Undertake monthly internal and external window and window frame cleaning.
  • Undertake grounds and gardens maintenance, including planting and mowing.
  • Collect waste and manage recyclables within the facility boundary.
  • Maintain stock levels of consumables and equipment.
  • Train others in core caretaking duties and provide direction when required.

Job description

We currently have an opening for an experienced Caretaker/Janitor to join our team. Please note you may be required to travel to alternate sites so preferably you will hold a driving license and use of a vehicle. Job title: Caretaker

This role is based at the Great Yarmouth Police investigation Centre. You must be able to complete Police vetting which requires you to have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Providing a full cleaning service (planned, reactive and specialist) within the whole secure facility as well as offering out of hour’s availability for reactive service and providing cover for holidays and sickness at other sites and own (including weekends, Public Holidays).
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of equipment across the site, including making minor repairs.
  • Undertake a variety of both reactive and preventative day to day maintenance or repair tasks.
  • Undertake monthly internal and external window and window frame clean.
  • Undertake grounds and gardens maintenance, including planting, grass cutting, weeding etc.
  • Collect all waste and deposit at specified points within the facility boundary.
  • Maintain stock levels of consumables and equipment provided throughout the building e.g. toilet/copier paper and detainee consumables.
  • Train others in core caretaking duties/responsibilities and give direction to other members of staff when required.
What we’re looking for:
  • You will have previous experience in a maintenance/cleaning role.
