Job summary

Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School is seeking a proactive caretaker to join the Facilities Management Team. The role focuses on site maintenance, security, and keeping the school in a safe, welcoming condition.

The post requires flexibility for a three-weekly shift pattern from 6:00am to 10:00pm and occasional weekend lettings. Training will be provided, and prior experience is beneficial though not essential.

Qualifications

• Flexible shift patterns including 3-weekly cycle from 6:00am to 10:00pm.
• Previous maintenance experience is beneficial but full training will be provided.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of site maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient and effective site maintenance support to the school.
• Cover for colleagues’ absence as required within a small facilities team.

Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School is a successful, oversubscribed school with 1821 students on roll including 283 in the Sixth Form. It is situated close to the centres of Sheffield and Chesterfield on the edge of the Peak District National Park.

The Governors are seeking to appoint a caretaker to join the Facilities Management Team, which comprises of 4x Caretakers, 2x Maintenance Technicians and the Facilities Manager; plus, the Cleaning Team. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a can-do attitude, willing to go the extra mile. This is a physically demanding post and you must be able to meet the requirements of the job description, providing efficient and effective site maintenance support to the school. Previous experience is beneficial, but training will be provided.

The post requires flexibility of working, including three- weekly shift pattern spanning 6.00am to 10.00pm (see above), four-weekly weekend lettings - usually Saturday only, and cover for colleagues’ absence.
