Job summary

Rochdale Council is hiring a Caretaker for Castleton Primary School in Rochdale. This full-time role runs 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 10:15 to 5:45 with a half-hour lunch, year-round within school term holidays. Overtime may be required with pay.

The successful candidate will maintain high standards of cleanliness, perform general handyman tasks, and support a safe school environment. You will work independently or as part of a team, communicating effectively with staff and applying

About the Role

Facilities Management are looking to appoint a Caretaker at Castleton Primary School, Rochdale

The hours are 35 hours per week to be worked Monday to Friday 10.15am-5.45pm (half hour lunch break). All year round and holidays to be taken in school holiday terms. Additional hours maybe required to meet the needs of the service to which the appropriate overtime will be paid. Hours maybe subject to change to meet the needs of the service

About you

We are looking for someone who is a hard-working, energetic and honest person with excellent customer care skills and the ability to provide a quality service at this busy school.

The successful candidate will:

• Responsible for maintaining an excellent standard of cleanliness of designated areas in the building and duties will include toilets and associated facilities against an agreed cleaning specification and good attention to detail.
• Able to complete practical handy person tasks.
• Ability to work to tight timescales is essential and a flexible approach
• Be able to work independently using initiative and as part of a team
• Able to communicate clearly with and relate positively to all members of the school team.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety at work
• Ability to recognise the importance of ensuring a secure and safe environment of the site to include record keeping and the completion of compliance tasks.

Experience is essential, although persons with skills appropriate and a willing attitude are invited to apply.

Candidates who are unsuccessful after interview may be considered for casual caretaker/cleaner positions within Facilities Management. The hourly rate for a Casual Cleaner is £13.45 per hour.
